The Suspects

Fotis Dulos

The prime suspect. The luxury home builder was charged with the May 24, 2019 disappearance and murder of his wife Jennifer Farber Dulos, the mother of their five young children. Rather than face a possible prison sentence if convicted, on January 28, 2020, he fastened a hose to the tailpipe of his car in the garage of his Connecticut home and later died of carbon monoxide poisoning. He left a suicide note insisting of his innocence. The competitive water skier had been out on $6 million bail. During the vicious divorce, Jennifer claimed she was terrified that Fotis would harm her or kidnap the kids and take them out of the country. Dulos was also accused of defrauding Jennifer’s father of millions of dollars in order to finance his jetsetter lifestyle with his mistress Michelle Troconis, as well as trying to keep his failing construction business, Fore Group, afloat.

Michelle Troconis

She was identified as the girlfriend in court papers during the bitter 2017 divorce battle between Jennifer and Fotis Dulos. At one point Fotis demanded that Troconis and her tween daughter move into the family’s multi-million dollar mansion. It was the last straw. Jennifer packed up the kids and fled and the jet-setter ski instructor moved in. The one time mistress was convicted by the State of Connecticut on March 1st, 20214 of all six counts related to her role in the murder of Jennifer Farber Dulos. Troconis was found guilty of conspiracy to commit murder, conspiracy of tampering with physical evidence, and hindering an investigation. Troconis faces up to 50 years in prison.

Kent Mawhinney

He was Fotis Dulos’ lawyer pal who had previously been arrested on domestic violence charges in Connecticut. Mawhinney was a founder of the Windsor Rod & Gun Club in East Granby, near where Fotis lived. On May 18, six days before Jennifer went missing, two of its club members walking in the woods stumbled upon what they described to police as “one hundred percent a human grave.” Inside the two foot wide, six foot long and three foot deep freshly dug hole was a blue tarp and two unopened bags of lime. Mawhinney is also charged with conspiracy to commit murder. His law license has been suspended and he is out on bail. He has pleaded not guilty.
